Weber Carburettor Related Issues

Post

I have 3 issues and would like help -

1. My car ticks over at 500 rpm and I would like to increase this slightly - where is the adjustment screw?

2. My accelerator pedal sits high in comparison to the brake pedal and I would like to lower it by adjusting the cable?  Has anyone else had to make this adjustment?

3. My car is an automatic but it is difficult to select reverse gear withour reving the engine.  I read that this was possibly in relation to the over cnetre spring on the carburettor?  Has anyone else had this problem and how did they remedy it?

All help appreciated.

I would first check the condition of the Front, Rear, and side Transmission mounts.  If they are worn they can cause issues selecting gears in the Automatic.

There is also the adjustment Barrel bolt on the transmission that may need adjusting as you don't hav e it quite where it needs to be.

I usually loosen it (not remove it), then I move the selector arm all the way in to park (towards your tyre).
I then tighten it and make sure that for every detent on the arm the selector is in the proper position as in PRND12.

Increasing the Revs on the Carb I am unsure of, but I do know that the Accel Pedal goes t the Tranny, then the Bowden cable from the transmission to the engine, and that cable can get slack as well in it as it why there is the adjuster nuts on the top of the valve cover.  About once a year I remove all the cables and Spray the internal cable with TRI-FLOW spray (smells like bananas) Holding the Cable up in the air I let it run into the cable for an hour or 2.

I have had the rear mount break and the mount fell out of position causing the shifter arms to bind on the horn bracket of my Cabriolet… It was a right royal PITA to get it re-aligned.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

On my Webber there's a big bolt to adjust the tick over and a screw to adjust the mixture.

Not sure what on a auto carb, try searching the web for an instruction manual, I guess you have a 32/34 Dmtl carb?
