Oil pressure light flashing

BAZ - The printed circuit board that controls the low oil pressure system and has the annoying buzzer is fitted directly behind the speedo, it's 'L' shaped, did you change that when you changed the speedo, if so try putting the old one back.

Just checked the speedo on my old one there is a row of pins where the dash lights are ie: indicators, oil, battery, on the new one 2 of the pins are not there could this be a issue why the oil low pressure light is coming on, drive the Car car a few times and I took it to 3000 rpm it seemed ok, then I stopped went of again and it started to buzz and oil light was on, I took of the oil cap and can see the oil in the clogs and and throwing droplets of oil, I cleaned connectors but still the same the Car seems idling around 1500rpm on standstill so not sure if that playing a part, all help appreciated

Check the Mylar Tongue.  The pins are labeled on the back side (in German).  It may be that you have to move your wires a bit.

The connector has two little finger clips on it that you unlatch, and they allow the "lock" part of the connector to flip back or up and all the pins are loose.

The problem may be that as was stated the low pressure light is in the speedo, and that is connected to the mylar.  If there is no input to the warning unit, then your lights may do strange things because of the floating signals.

Do you have the CAN pressure unit on the side of the head? Oil pressure / Low oil pressure.  I bought a new one and it gave me fits until I moved it to the Spare port on the oil filter flange.  I used the Block off and placed that in the side of the head.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

It's a 1.6 GTI, there's is a something On the side of the head, could I look at my old clock Mylar and new clock and see if they match that way I may be able to see if it could be the wiring that needs moving about

Check the spade connector which fits on the oil pressure sensors as I've found mine was only just hanging on to the wire by 3 strands, I cut it off and refitted a new spade connector on.

Hello Mark mine was a little weak so cut it back and reconnected it, did go well up to 3000 rpm then stopped went off again and then the buzzer sounded and light flashes on, just confused where else to look is there a way I could test the wire and where does the black blue wire go, is it the same colour to fuse board then speedo ? So the black / blue wire On speedo connector is the the oil pressure switch, because in was thinking of testing for continuity On the wire In case there is a break somewhere, keep suggestions coming guys as I need to try getting her back on the road many thanks In advance

Just to rub it in but Clive has fixed himself of this problem again, (he's done it before)

It seems to be if he's laid up for any amount of time he likes to Buzz as us. After a week of constant use by Lady Borednow he's decided to stop. I wonder if it's moisture in the guages themselves and just through use it finally dries out.

Apart from keeping and eye on the oil level I've wiggled a few things and checked contacts but nothing worked.

Sorry I can't help, but Yay for Clive!

the switch on the side of the head should be blue or brown,. 0.24-0.3 bar with a yellow wire. this one does the light with ignition on, and if pressure drops at idle. So this one can be ignored if the light comes on with ignition, then goes out when started.

the big one on the filter housing should be white, 1.8 bar with a blue/black wire. this one is responsible for then light and buzzer if pressure drops when revs are at about 2k rpm and above.

If you earth the blue/black wire that should shut up the warning, if it does look at the switch and check oil pressure. if not its a wiring or clocks issue

Thanks John I just earth the black/blue wire and it's shut off so I take it should be the switch, I will replace it and hopefully it's sorted it out lol been a month now or over trying to sort her out so hopefully this will get her back on the road will keep you guys updated, also when ignition is on the oil light come on and goes off and had her idling as well and she was ok so I believe It could be the black/blue wired switch above oil filter housing, many thanks again guys will keep.you updated once new switch is in thanks again

if the buzzer/light stops when you earth that wire good news its not the clocks or wiring, potential bad news is it might actually be you have low oil pressure

fingers crossed its just the switch though :)
