Mk1 caddy with AGG Block Distributor ponits/ignition kits opinions needed (NO ECU)

Hello all

This is my 1st post and also 1st engine conversion so please be kind :) Right, I have a mk1 caddy I have owned for 7 years and I've recently been going through the stages of doing an engine conversion. The aim of the whole conversion has been to keep it simple… I don't want an ECU as the Caddy never had one to start with so i'm keeping it old School.

So you can get an idea of what i'm dealing with, here is a brief description of the engine I have built. All parts refurbished or new:

Block: 2ltr AGG
Head: 1.8 8v PB Ported and flowed, piper cam, stiffer valve springs.
Intake: Custom manifold with ZX6R Carbs Jetted out to 1.6 for first start before tuning.

My issue now is the distributor. I wanted to fit the original style distributor to the AGG block so I bought an adaptor to fit it. I am happy setting up the ignition timing and playing with the dwell angle of the points to get everything running smoothly and I rather enjoy it (sad I know) BUT I want to fit a new distributor of the same type, as the old one has seen better days. Part No.027 905 205 j With vacuum advance.
I cannot for the life of me find one. The closest I can get is the 027 905 205 S with vacuum advance for the mk2 Golf but it has Magnetic points I do believe.

So I'm thinking that I may have to go down this route. But without some form of ignition module I assume I cant make use of the magnetic points/pickup?

Finally the questions are,

1. Can I fit Points too the 027 905 205 S?

2. Is there an ignition module like Lumenition offers etc that can make use of the existing magnetic points on the 027 905 205 S

3. Can you fit an after market kit for eg. Lumenition with an Optronic sensor to replace the magnetic points on the
 027 905 205 S

Thank you for reading this far into my post. Any opinions/answers would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if some of what I have said is uneducated in the world of Mk1 lingo  :) CaddyBox
