Tie rod end nut size

Post

Hi again.

I had the knuckle out to replace the wheel bearing. I smashed up the tie rod end nut when hammering off the tie rod. I can’t figure out what size the nut is so that I can get a replacement. Anyone know?

never hammer off a tie-rod by the nut.
Smack both sides of the spindle with a hammer at the same time, or save yourself fussing an buy a tie-rod separator.

Buy a new tie rod end as it will come with a new nut and if you've been hammering it, it may be shot?
They don't last for ever and not that expensive

Oh I forgot, use copper grease on the tapers of the tie-rods an the ball-joint, they are easier to get apart.  On the tie-rods use it on the inside of the tie rod, makes tracking the rack a wee bit easier, and of you still have the 1-piece inner and outer on one side, just buy the Cabriolets inner and outer and your tracking guy will love ya.

Tie rod end nut size

I ended up using the tie rod separator (the proper way). If anything, I just need to know what is the size and pitch of the nut that screws into the tie rod end securing it to the steering knuckle. I ended up getting a new tie-rod end.

My memory must be useless, I've just changed the tie rod on mine and I'm sure if you've got 24mm, 27mm and 30mm you'll have your bases covered. I grabbed about 5 or 6 spanner's and crawled underneath to do mine, and forgot to look which ones I used 😂😂
