Seat slide latch

Post

Hi All, I appear to have non standard seats in black leather in my 83 GTi cab. The handle to allow adjust slide forward and back does not sit in its holder. It maybe that they are from a left hand drive car. the mechanism does not mesh if that makes sense. Anybody seen this before and made a work around? You can still adjust the seat but you have to reach under and pull the lug.
Hope that makes sense, Ideas welcomed?

Pictures work best when trying to describe wonkiness.

sounds like you have mk2 gofl seats, or possibly converted mk3 golf. if the height adjust lever is on the side they can usually be converted to mk1 fitment easy enough, I posted a guide up in one of the howto sections. if its on the front you'll just have to live with it, or swap bases.

pics as said, we should be able to confirm what they are for you at least.

easy enough to swap the handles:

Thanks guys, I was thinking something similar but this confirms it. Legends as always!
Should have it back on the road in the next few weeks after a long stint. Excited!
The horn failed so have brought a new one and the reverse lights not working but when direct connected light comes on, so have got a new switch on order. Whoops the bills in parts are racking up, but its been fun! No labour costs.
Also going to give the brakes a work out as not been used for a while so will whip callipers off and extend pistons and retract a few times and get the rust off the disks. (And change fluid at the same time. Then its MOT!

hi looks like you are missing a rubber guide that fits between seat rail and seat on top of the hard mount fixed to the floor.

Hi mark boag, thanks for the advise. Do you have a pic of what you refer to and any idea where I might be able to pick one up? There is excess movement in the seat and what you mention maybe what's needed to get it securely fitted.

There were 2 styles over the years that I know of.  A hard plastic triangle piece, and the "Cabriolet type of piece.

Both types used slightly different seat glides at the rear legs.

I would make an assumption that your frame would require the "Cabriolet" style of kit.

The front is 435881203A for the front only.
outer is 171881213B

Kit.
