Rear Speakers

My Golf MK1 came with no rear speakers installed in the rear Housings.
I have bought some rear speakers and tried to fit them.
The plastic pegs fit perfect but not sure how the speakers are held in place.
There must be clips or fasteners to secure the speakers.

Does anyone know how or what should be used to hold the speakers in place once you put the spaekers on the 4 plastic pegs.

Whatcha Paul,

There are some special metal self cutting nuts that do on the pegs.

Classic VW may do them. Alternatively a wanted post may see some help or possibly a breaker might have them.

I have been to a few shows and still never seen any golfs with the speakers in the housing.
I will have alook round for some.

The later as in 91.5-93 Cabriolets had 4X6 speakers in the rear.
There was a cutout for the speaker in the 1/4 panel card and 4 holes.
The Speakers were affixed to the Grilles and then through the 1/4panel card with 4 self cutting aluminum
nut and 4 neoprene washer.

The 90-91 Cabby has the punch holes in the 1/4 panel cards and were screwed to the body of the car.

Pal nuts, are what they are. As for speakers I've seen self rappers into car panels,pal nuts onto mounting pins on the covers. Best advice is what ever way you fit is to make a gap from mount using rubber washers. Reduces vibrations
