Mk1 Golf Gti Specialist

Hello Guys

Does anyone know of a good mechanic that knows about Mk1Gtis.
I live near Wigan Wn7 and i am after the Cambelt etc changed.
Normally i do repairs myself but want a Mechanic to change it amongst a couple of other jobs.

Any info would be appreciated

A cambelt change on a Mk1 is a very simple job compared to newer cars and should only take 1/2 hour to change, the problems arise when the you can't undo the rusty bolts for crank pully etc. Make sure you/they fit a new tensioner and you don't need to change the water pump at the same time like with modern cars as the Mk1s pump is fitted to the front of the engine so access is easy..

Any good garage should be able to do that sort of job, you need a specialist when you start playing with the injection system or running problems as there's no computer port for the mechanic to plug there laptop into so they get lost on fault finding and just start throwing new parts at it..
