Mark 1 golf full respray in coventry

Hi all, I'm currently in the middle of my mark1 golf restoration and my car is stripped inside and out read for  a full respray and I'm looking for somewhere good to do the work in coventry. I'm just worried about getting a good job as I don't know anywhere really with a good reputation so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Neil. I guess it depends on how much you expect to pay. Check out my project thread with images of my respray over Easter and a photo of the bodyshop that did it. I am in wythall so about a 30 minute drive from cov up the A45. If you want to see it beforehand before comitting to them just give me a shout and pop up one evening. I am in the home straight on rebuild so gives a good impression of the finished article.

Hi thanks for that, I thought it would be roughly be about 3k but I've not had any quotes yet so it's only a guess and it doesn't need any welding though as I had it sorted out and sprayed 7 years ago on the outside but once I had it done I was annoyed that I didn't strip it out and change the colour.  How much did yours cost ?. I ideally would prefer somewhere nearer as it will have to be trailered  there but if yours is a good job I wouldn't rule it out.

I was about 3 k. Supplied some panels myself (rear arches) so get messy but about that. I had full glass out respray with shuts and boot dust over. If you want full colour change then I would budget closer to 4K as getting into all the nooks and crannies takes time to prep and paint which I did not have to worry about.  I am happy with mine, had an issue on the bonnet where the filler sunk away and cracked but took it back after a couple of weeks and it was sorted in 2 day - these things happen to be fair it's the fact it was sorted no worries. Hopefully if it passes MOT next week it will be at the agm on the Sunday so if you visit you can see it there. Fitting the lower side stripes tonight so could be a lot of swearing later.
