Help! My golf won't run!

Please help!

Hi everyone, So I have a 1987 Golf Cabby 1.8 GTI that currently won't run. It will sometimes start then cuts out straight away other times it will just keep turning over. The fuel pump seems to be running constantly which I am aware is not right and should cut out once the correct pressure has been achieved. Any advice would be much appreciated! Matt

What relay do you have in slot 2 where the Fuel pump relay should be?

Some relays prime the pump before starting but they just run the pump maybe once or twice and only for a second.

Don't try and start your car with your headlights on as you are taking power from the battery as it's trying to start the car and run all the lights, also it will shorten the life of your bulbs as they keep getting power surges.

Just looked at your video again, is the green indicator light on the dash alight? Did you have your indicators on as well or does it always stay lite when the ignition is switched on?

Hi, whats the background to this not running, has it been stored for a long time and you have not started it, or has it been running on a regular basis and now wont run?

If it been standing for a long time with stale fuel in it I  would check the plunger in the metering head, this can stick.
