I've also seen it done (googled but couldn't find any pics) with various socket set extenion bars and someone made a tool of wood off cuts that fits into the slots.

Only Attempt this in a WELL VENTED AREA. As this is a unported Cap, then draining the cap is from the bottom fuel line. (remove the Fuel Cap on the fender.).

I knocked it round very softly and carefully with a very blunt chisel.

So it goes anti-clockwise to remove it.
I used a bar like this, placing it edgeways through the slots.
