Will it reach to the rocker cover?

Coil Bracket Bonding wire to the Valve cover right rear corner (as you are looking at the engine), it can cause spurious MFA issues.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Earth lead from coil bracket fits here.
Gti cars have 2 earths on this bracket as you can see. If you don’t have the bracket like mine just fit the earth lead to the stud which my bracket is on by removing the nut and re fitting it.

Superb thank you very much
What's the other earth coming off your bracket mark?
Tested my ignition coil at work and looks to be ok so dont think it's that that's leaving me sparkless. Investigation continues

The other earth, thin brown wire is in the main engine loom from the fuse box. Only fuel injection cars with the MFA have this earth lead.
If it breaks and falls off you will problems with the instrument cluster, MFA not working and if you switch the headlights on you can lose the rev counter or it read 1/2 the revs and some of the warning lights on the dash can glow.

Can now confirm both those earths are where they should be.

Tested the coil for resistance at work as my multimeter had not come and all seemed ok. Tried to test for 12v at home this morning and not getting anything.

Wonder if I'm testing it wrong never used a meter before tbh. Got the battery connected, all the connections to the coil. Got it on 20v with neg to neg and pos to pos. Does the car need to be turned over by someone as I test this as I was on my own?

Any help appreciated cheers again

I don't know what terminal you're testing.

The ignition needs to be on, should show 12V or thereabouts.
