Electrical

So, I have a 2 litre, 16 valve conversion in mk 1, using original fuse box for headlights, indicators, hazards, horn and wipers.  As well as brake lights and rear lights. Hazards work, side lights work, brake lights work, but I cannot get main headlights or indicators to work individually. I've just fitted brand new headlight switch, indicator stalk and wiper stalk. Main beam will work on indicator stalk, if each item is linked out with 12 volts they will work. Ie motor wiper, washer motor and headlight bulbs. Please help…..any ideas …..whats going on?

Check your load reduction relay.  If that is Buggered, then you won't get any of the things listed.  It powers the "X" circuit.

Bad Grounds or earths are a factor as well.

Could also be a bad ignitions switch, as that is what turns the load reduction on or off.

Here is the X circuit explained… Easy tests

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

its not the relay if the headlights dont work either, as they are fed direct from the ignition switch. so i would say its switch, or wiring to it :)
