Mk1 1.6D Caddy

Hi

I need to fit some speakers into my doors but no holes are in the door cards, can anyone give me advice on what I need and recommended size as I guess they are going to be narrow?

It all depends on what you want.  If you can source Door Pockets from a later Cabriolet then you can use a larger speaker.  The 89-91.5 use a narrow door pocket, where the 91.5-93 used a larger speaker pod.

To the right of the yellow circle is the "normal" pre 91.5 Speaker pocket opening on the door frame:

The 91.5 and later is a tad bigger, and the above picture has teh blue outline of what would need to be cut to install larger door pocket speakers.

Hope it helps.

Hi

Thanks for the info, the caddy is a 91 and I'm not fitting door pockets. will I still get a decent size speaker in the door without it hitting the window mech and anything else?

The speakers in my 92 and 93 are 5 1/4, they sound pretty good and don't interfere with my electric windows.  But you have to take in account of that they are placed low in the corner.  The pre 91.5 was a 4X6 speaker.  (all in inches).

Depending on how you mount them and how deep the speakers are is your concern.  I have SONY Explodes 5 1/4 on the front.
