Dash/instrument bulbs at 2w, there is a few places selling them

I think that connection is for the MFA?
Do you have a picture of the LCD on the front of the instruments?

that extra plug would be for the MFA but yours doesnt have it so no worries. later models also have a plug there for the vehicle speed signal, as used for the expensive AKTIV stereo and cruise control systems. again nothing for you to worry about there ;)

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of a hazard lights switch as mine fell apart when I was removing the dash so just want to see if I put it back right as this may be the reason why it not working thanks

check your hazard switch wiring next, it should have perm live on the red/white to pin 30 and ignition live on the black/blue to pin 15

if that checks out loop a wire between the red/white and the white wire and your indicators should work. If they do replace/fix the hazard switch, if not check the wiring back to the fusebox and the hazard/indicator relay

Hello just just bridged the red/white wire and the white wire and my indicators are working would this be a faulty hazard switch that needs replacing

yeah that would be the hazard switch, maybe you missed a spring or something putting it back together I had similar issue with my mk2 hazard switch. tiny black springs on black carpet are hard to find

I've had the same problem with switches falling apart when pulling off the electrical connector. I now make sure my battery is disconnected and pry the connector off between the switch and plastic plug of the connection.

You could pull your switch apart again and check you have all the springs and brass connection in the right places.

I cant find a picture of the inside of a hazard switch but saying that I'm sure I lost a few bits as I couldn't see any springs just 2 metal clips lol so I think its a switch, hopefully its just the switch as the indicators worked when the wires were bridges, hope it sorts out thanks again guys do appreciate all the help received much much appreciated

From memory there is some springs inside it, as rubjonny say, "tiny black springs on black carpet are hard to find".

Just keep an eye out on the floor incase you spot them at a later date and can repair the switch.

Hi all, i came across this thread as i have a similar issue.  Ive followed Briano1234 s really good guide and have repair the dodgy red cog on my odometer, put LEDs on the 3 instrument cluster bulbs, and added a new earth off the instrument cluster long connector.
(Also added the headlight upgrade kit but that's not  related)
Reconnected it all and have the following:
1. Instrument cluster lights up nice and bright. Ciggy light also comes on.
2. But no lights to all other dash switches
3. Front windscreen wipers are constantly on!
4. Im wondering if i joined my new instrument cluster earth to the wrong cable on the long connector. I used second from the left, which seemed to be the only brown one.
5. Also, i havent connected up the light ‘fader’ switch on dash RHS yet. Could this be breaking the circuit to the dash switch bulbs?
Thoughts or advice please?

No the second Pin Brown is correct, I think that your removing things and what not disturbed the Gray/Blue wire. as it goes from the switch to the clocks, then over to the heater panel and other things…So I think that a Digital Volt Ohm Meter or a 12V test light are in your future.

It is the Gray/blue wire out of the switch and the cluster.

Wipers running Constantly before or after the change?
Before Try re-seating the relay.

After then re-seat the relay, and then look to the wiring.

Solder/Heat Shrink all connections.

dash lights and gauge problem

Hi again.
Firstly thanks for your odometer repair guide.  Did it a few days ago and went out for a short drive today and it works! I clocked up a couple of miles. Awesome - thanks.
Back to the problem in hand…
So it seems the ciggy lighter and light run off a different circuit then the rest of the dash switches.
This is working fine and the blue/grey wire is working but has this strange fitting. It looks as though something should plug into that black connector?

I noticed on the heater controller, 1 of the 4 connectors doesnt connect to anything off the switch. Are these circuits related?

Also, there are no grey/blue wires on any of the other dash switches which arent working. Theyre all brown:

Incidentally i also adding a new ground from the coil clamp to the cam cover as recommended.

Wipers: only starting doing their own random thing after the instrument cluster repair and new earth wiring being added a few days ago.

Sorry to fire so many things at you!
Thanks

Update:
Ok so had another go…
Turns out the fog, hazard and heating screen switches were all pretty filthy. So a bit of wet and dry sanding and those 3 are now working!
Handbrake light on RHS isnt working but think that may actaully be the switch under the handbrake itself.
Still ant figure out the wipers though….

The wipers have a permanent live for the self parking feature, have the wires been disturbed or swapped?
