Clipper strut brace issues

Bought a front strut brace for the misses clipper and it doesn't fit. See photo.

The air intake is too high as the brace sits on it and is no where near the strut bolts.

I believe it has an aftermarket Weber carb which may be adding to the height issue.  76544368-F764-4825-8F13-247578BD3CC8.jpeg

Is there a specific one for a clipper?

Most seem to be designed for the K-Jet engine cars not carbs.

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Its the bottom brace you want as the top one does not make much difference.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

This is a old topic but might Help someone, the position in the picture is wrong, that bar does not go that way, rotate it 180degrees….!
But it still might not fit your specific engine. 9d6e0eb7c6b3db0906a70fe3c.jpg 70ed5352cdb8740aa.jpg
