Changing MFA on a 1987 GTi Cab

So I bought a MFA LCD screen advertised on eBay. Could be someone on here..🧐😁

Came with a PDF instruction doc. The instructions show how to disassemble the instrument console.

The instructions appear to be for a MK2 as dials are round.

It states that I should be able to fully remove the circuit board but find that its not coming off.

I have tried undoing the white frame from the MFA but it's catching on the speedo dial.
I wish I left the cloudy MFA alone now…
Has anybody completed this?  Or can give me advice?
