BAM engine loom and plugs!

Post

ok so you would just use the mk2 loom plug for the pump, no adaptation required.

wire you mention might be for the boot light, pics?

4 pin D is where you need to put the blue wire to, look close at the ends of the wires where they poke out of the black covering for the blue one. the other pin on tbe alternator is the DFM pin for the BAM ECU, up to you if you can be bothered to hook it up from what I understand it makes no real difference.

the last 2 wires on the other 2 pin plug are for the aircon compressor, so you can ignore them

Back again John,
There is a single blue cable that comes out the the main positive heat shrink about 6 inches from the ring terminal so guess that my connection for the D plug?

I'm using all the MK4 loom as the one I took off is a bit ropy. Is the 4 pin for both the 2 pin connectors?

yes the 4 pin on the battery side of the mk4 alternator cable feeds the alternator and aircon compressor plugs.

you could get a mating 4 pin plug off a donor mk4/audi/passat/etc in scrappy and splice it to the mk2 blue wire, or cut the 4 pin off and splice a spade on it perhaps. Whatever works really

spade in the tailgate I assume is the earth for the wiper motor?

I.D. the colours on the 4 way (which are numbered on the housing and at the 2 pin plugs which is nice. The other in the 2 pin is a red/yellow does that mean I'd have to run a new wire to the ecu? If so how would I connect it and what position on the ecu plug do you know?

Would you put a single spade on the blue and connect to the 4 pin or cut off the 4 pin and single male/female or just through crimp it?

Through crimped, heat shrink and then spiral wrap!
Going on where the connectors would have been, plus it's done now.

Does the spade for the wiper go on the motor chassis or on to the car? It looks like the motor/mechanism is isolated from the car via rubber donuts.

when i make them run the alternator wire to the engine loom F plug, same as mk3 golf and put the mk4 plug on the end that way its fully plug and play. then run the DFM wire if its a DBW ECU. as i say apparently it doesnt make a difference so i wouldnt worry about it for now just get blue wire hooked up

the brown wire probably runs inside the car and earths in the boot somewhere same as the mk2 golf one does, i cant see vw earthing it to the tailgate. mk2 its earthed at the bottom of the the C pillar near the lights. look for a spade plug on the wiper motor somewhere, it needs an earth to work but doesnt look like it comes out with the 2 wires you have plugged in so I assume the brown earhts to the motor shell somewhere

exhaust gas temp sensor ;)
