1992 Cabby. Timing.

Post

Morning all.

I have a 1992 1.8 Clipper Cab (well was a 1.8, now a bored out, fast road, 1.9) but still running all the exact same ignition parts etc. With the addition of a 4-1 manifold and weber dmtl 42/34 carb.

It has all been set up and it's now legally on the road and drives mint. However, the engine is pinking when under load and up to temperature. Is it literally a case of turning the dizzy to retard the timing a little bit to stop this?? Which way do I turn the dizzy if so?

Cheers!!!!

Yes mark where the dissy is now so you can see how much you have turned it and if it all goes wrong you can turn it back, there is a little cut out on the engine block you can use or I scratch a line from the end of the dissy clamp,  loosen the dissy clamp a little and twist the dissy anti clock wise to retard it a little. See/hear how it drives as it might need a little more adjustment.
