why is gsf so rude

car parts suppliers have this trick of if they ain't got what you asked for they will give you something like it, you then go home to fit the part, you then find its the wrong one Somewhat frustrated

so you ring them up and say "hey you gave me the wrong part"

them "OK sir/madame Ive looked and we haven't got the part you need but it will be in tomorrow morning, call back and we will swap it no worries"

this way if they had said they hadn't got it in the 1st place you would have walked out and tried another factors and they would have lost a customer this way they have your cash and know you will wait, common practise in the trade..

Agreed, this is a little less than honest but understandable to a degree  :dontknow:  however this isn't what I was meaning, nip there in the morning, buy loads of stuff then nip back there in the afternoon to replace the parts which they've given me which were wrong, this happened twice in the same day on a radiator  :banghead:

Everyones got to learn though I guess, but still I would say overall it's normally a positive experience

I use the Derby one all the time, guys I've met are sound and all know their dubs! Knew the coolant hose i needed for my mk2 off the top of his head. Even ordered a part that came same day for me. One of the guys has a mint cab on schmidt th lines, saw it parked up with a mk2 also real nice.

Just picked a bad time to go in i think mate.

Agreed Jay, that is what I meant by being slow, when I needed my starter motor I was not sure which one it would be, they explained it would be the mk2 one. I got discount and the starter was proper fit first time round.
I am not sure if dek witnessed what occured first hand or if this was relayed to him by his mate? we all have had different reactions from different places  some good, some bad.
If the guy restoring has plenty of money then it should be no problem getting anything from suppliers, just look on the Net, loads of stuff for vans and beetles.
