I'm glad the motors off the road - I hope he gets done for it.

To 'grass' or not? The honour amongst thieves disappears rapidly when it comes to saving ones own skin. If you are living life honestly and above board wheres the problem in informing the relevant authorities?

The beef people had on the forum is that the guy was boasting about it - he's taking the piss out of us who pay their tax, pay their insurance - I live in manchester - here it is never cheap to insure anything because of wasters like the kid on your street.

Sorting things out yourself? Lifes too short - this country runs on the rule of law, its one of the things that make it so great.

My family have had unisured drivers drive into them and scarpered - it happens everyday - people aren't scared of the law, but if they are scared that people will report them….well then it will decrease.

Its never black and white, its not always clear cut but I'm glad the kids got done

My old man when he was alive had a scrap yard come steptoes yard we had dogs that wer loose we were told the had to be chained so we got rid of them as guard dogs and had them as pets, we then put barbed wire up and got told to take it down, we then put up broken bottles on our side of the fence you guessed it we took them down, this went on for ages we were lucky enough to own a few houses over looking the yard so one week i moved in and just sat and waited. First night witnessed some people turn up with a van hop over the undefended fence and start loading up, i just walked over took the keys out of the van and hoped over the fence hit one so hard wiht a bat that he was out and then in a comedy like sketch chased the other lad round the yard, finally he fell over i gave him a few swift kicks and punches and he was out. Went back to the house and waited THEY rung the Poilce on me lol.

Great laugh really Police came round and said did i know anything about it i said no been here al night with my Mrs watching TV he looked at me and just with a wry smile said ok, your yard got broken into again i said really nevermind if they had checked the gate we leave it open now as we cant defend it anymore, in which he said the two men had been giving a good seeing to i said really thats good.

Never heard anymore and the break ins stopped would they have done the "law" way no way is the answer.

Police/Courts/Law is a crock of shit say what you like but if the worst you have done is doing 35 in a 30 people really dont understand how it works.

Im 36 and when i was young the local bobby was respected as he gave you a clout now they cant even do that so how can they demand authority and respect ?

Fair play to you mate, I would've gone and told him that if I see him out in it I would be reporting him as he's bang out of order, that way it's not behind his back etc.

I couldn't agree with you more, nowadays they can't even use harsh language without the fear of repercussion! it's a joke really. I know of people 'using' under 16 year olds for robbing etc as if they get caught they just get a slap on the wrists and sent on their way. They know that too, so again where is the fear / respect supposed to come from.

Very interesting thread this one!

BigAd - yeah you are right that its tougher for the police to get respect than it used to be - I had a similar experience with the police to you - they looked the other way because essentially natural justice had been served - and I had done something that they would have done (if they could have got away with it)

But what is to 'grass' - what is to correct a wrong doing - what is to preserve justice?

I always think what would I want to happen here if I were the victim - if i was on the other end of this?

For me the rule is treat others as you want to be treated yourself - and we should respect the law and use it as a guide. If you think the law is a joke here go and spend sometime in a country without it - its becomes rule of the jungle

In this case how would you feel if an uninsured/untaxed driver drove into you and scarpered?

i think we could spend months on this topic

but the bottom line is

as me and big add already siad the punishment system is all wrong theres people in prisons still that killed people in the 1950's etc but yet now in modern times a young man kills someone at 20 his out before his 30 with a slap on the back with the guards saying now don't come back
