what you have failed to mention however is the reason for the post which was to clarify the legal standing on stretched tyres. which is that it is illegel.
and yes i do consider calling someone you don't know an idiot on a public forum and attack thanks.

Its like fitting a 10A fuse for an 11A load knowing as I do that it'll work, because the tolerances will allow it, why risk it?

At a guess, the answer you got from the last response was not the sort you was after so here you go mate
Good site here giving you pictures of all sorts of combinations of wheels and tyres fitted to give you a better idea of what you looking for. But it does all depend on how mad you want to go really.

continental i think do a 165/45x15
nankang and bridgestone do a 165/50x15
ive seen 165/50x15s in use on a 200+bhp g60 mk1 on 8" rims
i regularly use 165/50s on rims between 5.5 and 6 and have used them on a 7.5 in the past
im currently running 195/45x15 falken ZIEX's on 8's
ive had two punctures in all my experience and both were slow valve related punctures and i drive my cars very hard
im not saying its safe,im not saying its clever what i am asking is why does every stretched tyre question descend to this
