Hi Guys
I just wondered what peoples views are of cars like the below?
I have had 520D M sport BMW's over the past 2 years or so since my company changed from company car to car allowance and now i dont owe too much on the loan i took out for BM i was considering changing car early next year when i am due some commision (want to pay off what was left on BMW and get better rate loan over 4 years).
I have been having a browse, main credentials are comfort, but with sporty looks, diesel for the MPG and as many toys as i can afford, things like crusie control and indivdual climate etc all make life easier when you are doing a fair few miles.
I had pritty much decided i wanted to go Audi A5 Sline or Merc C Class Sport, but then saw this last night.

To me it looks the part, if i could find a leather interior for it eventually would be even better, but looking at what a standard one books at it seems about £1800 more. To me that seems about fair and i would say as long as you find the right buyer you will always get that bit much more for it over a standard car becuase of the way it looks. I have also asked him to confirm it is not previsouly accident damaged as i know that can often be the start to cars done up such as this
Whats peoples thoughts though? if you want an R32 buy and R32 or as long as its done right it can be the best of both worlds great looks but good economy?
Cheers, Rich

That car is lush as long as its done properly then it looks good.
I dont see the problem with ith best of both worlds high MPG and the looks of the R32.
What about insurance though you would have to declare all mods ?

Rich it looks good, don't like the interior but I would rather have a standard daily.
I don't like the Merc at all, my mate has a top spec one but I still think Metc are a long way off with their interiors, handling and gruff engines.
Audi or BM for me as u know and the A5 is a good car, the only thing I don't like about a lot of Audis is the chrome round the windows, hence the black packs or black editions.
Audi interiors are lovely, better than BM's but BM's drive better but both makes are a pain in the winter unless you get a Quattro ;-)

Cheers Guys
Scott - good point but if i used someone like Adrian Flux declaring everything would prob be ok, and not affect insurance too much ?
Matt- Is my thinking really :-)
Funk - yes 5 door :-) more practical
Chris - yeah im with you, love the black edition versions flat bottom wheel, all black exterior trim they are nice :-). Would like the 3.0 quattro idealy, neighbour had one and was getting good MPG out of it too. Although may drop down to the 2.0TDI or 2.7TDI if i found perfect spec. I would want to put leather in that golf or anniversary interior really.
Also been watching Tiguan r line & a diesel range rover sport although thats just being silly lol, and a couple of Audi A4's as well ……..

Jelly were you talking DSG boxes when you were looking?
Would i need to be worried about DSG on this 2009 golf?

Looks smart but the interior lets it down, leather is the only option for me on a car that looks like this.
I'm more interested in the 520D M-Sport as its what I've been looking at, or perhaps the 530D M-Sport, instead of my Passat Tdi.
Please PM me on any highs & lows you have from experience so I don't hijack the thread.
Cheers.

Agree Choc, i think if you could get R32 leather or a Anniversary interior with the tartan print in it, it would finish it off nicely!
i will PM you now about BM, and Chirs (massbad) above may message you as he has a 530D

Sweet, nice one!
What would the insurance be like on the above Golf? Would they charge you R32 money 'cos of it looks like one?
If they do, I would look at a high spec Golf Tdi and put your own mods to it, perhaps different alloys, mild lowering job and a re-map. (I'm into re-maps if a car has a turbo, did wonders for Mrs C's 20v T and insurance was much more).

Here is detail on my 2 BM's mate
View topic: richyhill's NEW DAILY - BMW 520D M Sport - The Mk1 Golf Owners Club
no dont think they would charge you R32 money, especially someone like flux who understands the mods etc, i would be happy remapping a 140 really, as a daily anything bewteen 140-200 is fine with me, its more torque for overtaking i like in the right gear if that makes sense …

Each to their own I suppose. I would imagine you will get every jerk on the highway trying to outpace you in that. Problem is they're likely to succeed. Isn't it always better to have a "sleeper" than the other way around? Just my opinion.
