No mate not planning on running a swirl pot.

Nice looking exhaust but the down pipe looks really close to the steering boot. I have wrapped mine to protect it from the heat :)

Yer it's close! I asked about wrapping it but he said the heat would get too much under the wrap and deteriorate the steel! How true I don't know! The reason I ask about the swirl is! I'm running an inline fuel pump into a fancy small glass filter in the engine bay! When the car ticking over its fine , but when I drive it , it splutters and cuts out! I then notice the filter is empty! I know standard mk1 system has an accumulator that stores fuel! What do you run! I think it starving it of fuel? I was thinking to make a small swirl pot or bigger filter! The pump is a bosh 4bar…

Well I am running a Bosch 044 fuel pump with a GTI tank setup. haven't run mine properly yet so unknown if it's going to work 100% but time will tell :)

As for the steering boot I have heard of those melting under the heat which is quite substantial from the downpipe and manifold. I know Peteg60 has his wrapped as well for this reason. Might be worth considering mate or at least keeping a close eye on yours :)

:o That definitely needs wrapping mate, either wrap the exhaust or wrap the boot but as it is you'll be on fire in no time. It's a good job your cars not running properly!!!!

Looks like a nice system though!

That pic in your avatar will be you putting out your golf!  :lol:Get a plumbers soldering mat and wrap it round the boot until you can sort it.
