Laura phoned this afternoon and told me that she had a really long chat with Mike from Blackpool council. The only issue that has arisen that their insurance only covers people and not any of our cars.
She said that we need to find our own insurance to cover our cars because it is on private land that they have provided for us on that day.
I will Pm Paul C about this and see if he can help.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

This is what mike has said that he has allocated a car park called St Chads headland. Pete is not familiar with Blackpool and causing abit of confusion as this is not what he had in mind. It's due to the permit as there is only that space on the day.
As it is my first time organizing an event i am not fully clued up.I get the feeling that he is trying to get us from not parking on the prom.
He is a really nice guy but if anyone can take the time to phone Mike and sort the patch out as this is causing the problem with the insurance.
Pete is now at at work, this is only issue he is having, it was not whathe was thinking, but mike chadwick chose the area for the permit as this is only one availble i believe.
Any help would really be great to set this in stone.
Mike chadwicks direct number blackpool is 01253 478 230, if you can explain from club you are and date of event, with your idea that would be of much help to see if we can use the cars and park them on promanarde as this would be better

Been on the phone to Mike again. Where St Chad's Headland is we are still on the Promenade near the fair, but not on the main road. The reason is because it is free to park where as on the main road there are meters. I am in a pickle now, as i need insurance for the cars if we use that space, or if we park on the main road we have to pay the meters. The form for the permit arrived this morning i will have to get it sent of asap.

OK,
this is only issue, had no responce yet, so only outcome is we have insurance to cover our cars on private land desinated by council or we can park on main rd next to promenade and pay by meter for our cars.
So event is up and running and defo for saturday 29th march 14.30hrs meet up at car park opposite blackpool fc has in pic shown previously for 13.30hrs so we can sort things out before we tackle the public
Any name for collection buckets please, not had any as yet as i need them for cancer research area manager to create passes for those collecting.
Need 4 members
Thanks Pete

AFAIK our club insurance covers public liability but not the cars themselves - surely everyone's own car insurance would cover them even on private land?

Its up to individual's policies, I think mine has an exclusion for rallys, pacemaking, trials, etc etc. It might be that the insurance they're asking for falls in between what's covered by a normal car insurance policy, and what's covered by our public liability policy. Hence, you need to get in touch with ant5 and possibly have a copy of the small print sent to the council who can say if its okay or not; or liase with ant5 to get ours extended (and negotiate on cost, if needs be); or start approaching companies to obtain your own insurance.

Spoken to ant5 and of really great help.
The cruise to blackpool is on, no worries at all, i am going to ask how many spaces there are for the cars tomorrow.
So more  mk1's that can attend the better, but depending on how many spaces are available you will have to find alternative parking if not on the stand.
Look forward to seeing you there on the 29th at the meeting point as pre arranged.
So again can i have 4 other members names for the collection buckets on teh day to collect so i can pass them onto cancer research area manager in order for her to make passes.
And names of members attending can you place your names on this topic.
Get your rides gleaming and have fun on the day.
Thank you loads
