Temp gauge etc
Been having an issue with the old temp light flashing.
So went for a spin in the car today, light on then it went off eventually and te temp needle in the gauge was half way?
So decided to change the sensor the single pin one with the red and yellow wire it has the black shroud. The light comes on for a few secs then goes off even if I don't start the engine.
Is this the feed to the gauge eyc or is there another plug somewhere?
Is thus something to do with it as well?
Cheers

It's just I don't appear to have temp gauge now.
Even when the engine gets up to temp and the fan kicks in.
It boiled over yesterday. Will give it a try today from cold.

Whether I connect the sensor or not on turn of the key it flashes 10 times then goes out. Even shorting to the block did nothing?
So started engine and left to warm felt the bottom rad hose was cold for a while, after 10-15 mins it started to warm up. So presume thermostat is working, checked feed back to header tank flowing beautifully so no issues there. A couple of mins later cooling fan comes on so all good there.
I am thinking if I have made the new spade connection properly as I took the old one off.
I am leaning towards the Dash coming out and having a look see.
Is there a seperate sender for the actual temperature gauge as the needle isn't moving at all?
cheers

I have located similar at the back left hand side of the block which connects to the pipe work that runs found the back.
Mine is black plug red/white and brown.
Is this the same thing the post refers to shorting the pins so the gauge should go up Indicating a faulty sensor

look at the relay 43/42 above the fusebox, this is the coolant level control unit. if this goes faulty it can mess up the dash temp, yank it out and see if that helps. look in the back of the socket for any yellow/red or yellow/blue wires, trace them as far as you can see if there are any snapped wires
the yellow/red wire from the sensor should be joined to a wire from the level sender control relay. sometimes the sensor wire goes to fusebox and a wire comes out from the same pin to relay, sometimes sensor wire goes to relay first then another wire from there goes to the fusebox. hope that makes sense!

Tapped the binnacle a couple of times and it came right …oohh the shame.
Gonna take the clocks out and place some tape under the blue connector, for better contact and give the contacts a clean.
Plus will investigate the other points..
That should help..
