Speedo accident

Post

I've just done something really stupid so turning to you guys for help.  I bought a set of spare clocks for my GTI a while ago as the speedo doesn't read properly (overreads) and the trip reset is broken off.  As I managed to get everything working on my old clocks, I just wanted to swap the speedo rather than the whole unit.  I finally got around to carefully removing the speedo from the spare set so I can match the mileage up ready for installing into my car.  While doing this, I turned it over to find I somehow broke the needle off! :ocf_emoticons__BangHead:I was so angry and gutted, I thought I might cry! Especially when I found it on my lap! So my question is, can you get replacement needles for speedos from anywhere? If not, does anyone have a spare good speedo to sell?

I considered sticking it back on, but its just not going to look right.  Again, gutted.

Do you mean that you snapped the needle itself, like in half or that the whole needle has come off its spindle?

If its the latter I would have thought you could just stick it back on no problems, others can you not use the one from your other speedo?

Sorry if stating the obvious!!

Snapped the needle.  No, the existing speedo needle is bent and part of the reason it is being replaced.

Since my first post, I learned that they just push on so decided to swap the needle with the rev counter as I bought the second set to be butchered for parts anyway.  However, I managed to pop off the needle from the rev counter and have that ready, but the speedo one just won't come off! I've tried levering it etc and it just won't budge! I'm in danger of damaging the speedo getting it off!
