Reversing light problem

Hi all,

I have permanently on reverse lights. Removed the switch and this works fine. It turns the lights on and off as it should. Can you tell me how the switch works in the transmission? This is obviously stuck on as lights remain on even though the car is not in reverse.

Appreciate any suggestions on how to fix thie problem.

Not sure if this will work but have you tried putting the wire the other way round? This will only work if like my switch it has 2 separate spade connectors.

Yeah tried that. Mine is a 2 spade swwitch as well. The switch seems fine. Lights work fine without the switch as well so the problem is definitely inside the transmission. I can only presume something is stuck inside?

sounds like switch is still to blame, they can go faulty in such a way they work off the car but not once fitted. this is due to the contacts inside bending out of shape,. best bet is try another switch! if its the gearbox just leave it unplugged as fixing it will mean a new box most likely

Thanks for the advice. Checked again and appears it is the switch! New one on its way.

How do you get the damn switch out????  

2 pin just unscrews, the multi pin one has 2 screws that hold it on either side

mine has the multi pin with 2 torx screws? but it seems impossible to get a socket/driver in to sucjh a small space as there is not much clearance above
