Check the fuse mate, 18 I think not not sure though, deffo a 10A jobby.
The hazards work off a different circuit so they can stay on with the ignition off.
Much luck with the MOT

i have had the same problem with my 86 cab, indicators don't work but hazards do. triedthe fuse, but still no flashy flashy.
am going to try a new hazard switch, and hope for the best.
any other ideas floating about?

I don't get how changing the hazard switch will help the winkers?
Change the fuse anyway as it maybe faulty, mine was but gave the impression of being fine on inspection.
Could be in the stalk but I doubt it tbh.
Someone else might have a brighter idea.

i thought the indicator lights ran into the hazard switch.
have tried a new fuse, but that didn't work.
hopefully someone can put us out of our indicator misery once and for all.

Ther hazards work off a different fuse to the indicators. They are also on a different rated fuse too, 15A.
Try disconnecting the hazard switch and see if this makes a difference, I can assure you it won't.

only other non expensive thing to try is spray some contact cleaner or wd40 down into the gap where the contacts are for the horn and wiper/indicator switch, operate the ind switch whilst doing it, sometimes there is a build up of grey gunk down there which stops the contacts working properly, or it could be the switch itself, especially if the "steering wheel fairy" has been changing things around in the past
I have had this with wipers and the horn playing up before and it cured it

what does the seperate wire that plugs into the back of the hazard switch do then? I thought all the relevant wires for the hazard switch ran out of the 1 plug.
i'll try the fuses again, and to clean the stalk itself.
the mystery continues.

Put your hazards on halfway till the dim light goes out.

Sounds to me like a problem with the switch itself, if you've replaced the fuse and it made no difference.
Open it up carefully and see if there are any springs inside. These hold the contacts of the switch together, and if they're missing you often get the green light on the dashboard on all the time.
I have substituted one of mine that I lost with a bit of folded paper, and it seems to work ok.

Check Craggle's tip first (see thread below this: "indicators not working…"). It really does work and has helped out loads of people on here.

one wire will run from the indicaters to the hazard switch so this can over ride to indicators when you put the hazards on,
check this is connected, (single wire as u stated)
ive had a few hazard switchs pack up on me on my old mk1's so if u have a spare or can get access to another one try it?
