if it's a normal cabby set up four pin or five pin rellay will work. You can use the horn rellay in it's place.

On My DX engine it's a 5 pin as one of the pins has something to do with the coil?
Sorry if that's not much help.

If you go to the electrical section at the top there is a sticky at the top that has the fuse board information.

isn't the 5 pin one safer ?? i think the extra wire cuts the fuel pump off if the engine isn't running

ie: if god forbid you have a crash and the engine cuts out, there will be no feed from the coil and the fuel pump will stop pumping fuel which is a good thing :D

fuse relay is for ceramic fusebox. you want the proper 5 wire relay as this will cut out in a crash, a switched live relay wont.

oh and chortle, I now found that its better to use a x-over relay 17 or 18 for a pump relay if you want to temp bypass/chec kit, fits much better in the socket :)

there are also 2 kinds of blade fusebox k-jet relay, those with a rev limiter inside and those without. this is the non-limiter relay from gsf:

Hi All,

Can someone please help? my car takes a long time to start up, particularly after it has been running. For example when cold probably 2 attempts then it starts. Driving the car for approximately 10 min or longer then stopping the engine, starting takes a very long time and sometimes I have to depress the throttle. Additionally most morning, I turn the ignition key on and let the fuel pump primp for a few seconds than it starts Ok. Today, I looked into the fuse box and discovered that there is a wire/connecter connected into port 18 which supposed to be for the handbrake hence explains as to why the hand brake light wasn't coming on. So I pulled the  wire/connecter from port 18 and placed with a new fuse (blue=15) now the handbrake light comes on when hand brake is on and off. This now seems to have stopped the fuel pump primp and the car won't start. Plugged the wire/connector back in and then I was able to start up the car. As the car was running with the wire plugged into port 18 I pulled the wire/connecter out from port 18 and the engine stopped. Then plugged back in and attempted to turn the ignition key on now the fuel pump won't  primp anymore.:(

not all fuel relays will prime the pump, the main thing is that the pump comes on when cranking. have you checked the relay is the right one though, it should be slot 2. also check the pump fuse obv. Warm start issues could be faulty non-return valve in the fuel pump or a fuel leak from the feed side or holed fuel accumulator. Check out this thread, ignore the 16v parts just concentrate on the basic kjet checks:

the handbrake light black wire should get an ignition live from spade G2 or 5 round the back of the fusebox and these pins are already fused for you.

when you say port 18 what exactly do you mean?

Hey Rubjonny,
Thank you for the email and sorry for the late reply. What I really meant by port 18 is the numeric numbers on the fuse box where the fuse goes. Not sure if that was the correct term as far fuse boxes is concerned. I'll check it tomorrow and get back to you with anything.

Thanks

so fuse 18? this is ign live for the horn and coolant level sensor if fitted.

as i say the ignition live feed for the handbrake light pops onto G spade round the back 2 or 5, piccy here:
