I'm picking up a 1z engined GTI (which has undertaken some fettling) next weekend. Can't wait to get back into MK1 ownership!

I've got a caddy with an AAZ in it. Its driven daily but it needs to be faster i think.

My two, 1.9 AAZ's

Saw the silver one in the flesh / metal a while ago, but it's the first time I've seen blue one! Both so nice!
I have a 1.9 AAZ engine on standby and look forward to putting it in mine in the future, but the original 1.6 engine just won't give up…it's as perky and reliable as ever now so I'm sticking with it until it dies beyond repair. I owe it my loyalty 'cos it's been bloomin' good to me over the years when I was using it daily to get to work.  :mrgreen:

What is the difference between an AAZ and a 1z?

Diesel golf 1.6 1983 just saved from the scrappy! Mot test Monday, wish me luck!
