Ok you really want one similar year. I'm presuming yours is a power top?
The early ones with the row of press studs at the edge where they sit on the parcel shelf are no good for your year. There quite specific 79-81 iirc.
Late one 90 onwards have the power limiters fitted to stop the top being operated with the cover in place.

yeah mine has power hood think it has three press studs either side one going down side of back seat then the two big Velcro straps I was looking online and you can get dye for leather is this the way forward ????

You should have on the late ones elastic strap with press studs that clip onto the plastic side covers behind the seat.
Press stud that go to the limiter studs these are in top of the plastic covers but the studs face out wards by the rear passenger glass. Press stud that goes to the hinge pivot trim on the outside of the car.
Then the 2 straps with Velcro on them that go under the parcel shelf.
You can get dyes I tried to dye one black it ended up a gloopy sticky mess, so had to strip it all off. Blooming nightmare.
These were available new from classicparts.de more recently. But I think they were couple hundred euros?
