What year is your car or even better get the code off your gearbox.
My 1988 Gti cabriolet has a ACD gearbox with 100 mm flanges and the 2 pin revering light switch.
Early tintop Gti I think used a 7G gearbox.

020 GEAR RATIOS
You can swop the flanges and change the reversing switch/ wiring but if you have the early type of MFA with the instant MPG and change up gear light you will need the gearbox with the larger type switch.

You should able to see the switch on your gearbox to check which type you have.

reverse light switch and 100 mm driveshaft flanges, unfortunately
it has recently developed slight input bearing noise.
The correct gearbox for my car 1983 model is the 7g code gearbox
with large reverse switch and 90 mm flanges.
