Description:

I recently bought this Mk1. Unfortunately or fortunately depending how you look at it, I then found a Mk1 campaign that i've always wanted. I knew at some point I may not be able to to keep both and so the time has come to write this advert.

It started life as a Gambian red golf c 1.1 litre and was then converted from a 2.0 ABF.
A lot of work has gone into the car primarily by previous owner Tom who owned it for over 3 years.
This included a FULL strip down and total rebuild changing and updating or refurbishing almost EVERY part.

What's been done:
Re spray in Bali green (70s colour)
ABF engine and management, rebuilt top end with all valves reground and all new seals. Cleaned and painted
5 speed gearbox from a cabby
Rebushed gear linkages so they are really nice and firm, tight and positive.
Wolfsburg steering wheel.
New clutch Sachs
Lightened fly wheel
All new gear linkage
Anti roll bars ( std gti )
280mm discs up front with mk3 callipers
Rear disc conversion
All new brake lines
New rubber fuel lines
Polly bushed through out
Jom coilovers
New std mk1 gti exhaust
ABF manifold mated to mk1 down pipe
Fiber glass small bumpers
Early mk2 golf gti clocks
Series 1 Wolfsburg steering wheel
Series 1 door cardse.Std 1.1 seats and dash
Cult Society door mirror blank (I have the passenger mirror)

Comes with a tin of paint if you require it for the future

I will be keeping the sebring alloys so new buyer can either bring their own or i will sit in on another basic set of rims.

The interior is still the basic 1.1 which has the usual bolster wear on drivers seat. There is a rip in the rear seat too.
S1 leather door cards
New roof lining

Engine loom has been redone using proper connectors, it starts first time on the button.
Obd port is wired in aswell.
Plenty of power for a small car, I drove it home from Swansea and it never missed a beat.

The car is very solid the only bit of rust which needed attention was the rear valance corners, which were cut out and replaced. The underneath is solid too and as been wax oiled.

Only thing that needs doing (at some point) is to replace the oil catch can as it leaks a little because the spout has a crack in it connecting to the breather pipe. It was custom made but looks not to have been strong enough where the spout joins the can.

Paintwork\Body is excellent but there is some slight bubbling to the A-Pillars (see pics). Nothing major but need to mention it and doesn't detract from the car\appearance.
The side trims were originally black and have been rubbed down to get a polished finish. Could do with replacing with chrome or black trims if being picky.

Tax:  Just had 6 months put on.
MOT: July 2015.
It is still down on the log book as a 1.1 (cheap tax)

You will be hard pressed to find another mk1 with these mods and having been fully rebuilt to this standard….

I'm not desperate to sell so no silly offers please.

Price is £4000 ono
