Welcome to the regrettable sale of my Mk1 GTI 1982 model with the 1600 engine.   I have owned the car for around 18 months and due to an upcoming house purchase I am going to have to sell it. Car has just passed it's MOT today but is still very much a road going project. I searched high and low when looking for one originally that was solid and this car 100% is there is no rust anywhere I can take photos of anywhere on this car all the usual places and everywhe re  else is solid as this was a really important factor for me when originally purchasing the car. While I have owned the car I have done the following Brakes Inner and outer track rod ends Ball joints Fuel pump Fuel filter Service Cambelt Fan switch two new CV gaitors as well Fan and fan shroud replaced
I have had the later wiring loom and fusebox fitted removing the ceramic type fuses and replacing with the blade type fuses out of a 1983 car. The wiring loom was my biggest sticking point on this car for months and is now trouble free with the late fusebox starts every time first time. (The original loom will go with the car if the person wants it.) And loads more I have probably forgotten about The cars paint is it's biggest let down and appears better in the photos than it really is at some point in the past the car has had a very poor respray and there a several runs and poor spots in the paint but I think it can be brought back to life from someone who knows what to do with a wet sand and polish my personal plan was to have a respray to make the car 100% for years to come. I have the arches, door seals, front lip and a few other parts which will all go with the car for the new owner.

its needs the waist line trims and some other very minor things but everything that matters is there including a parcel shelf with no speaker holes in it. I also have a set of original Pirelli wheels which I can swap with the ones on there but they are not legal and the car would be requires to be trailed away on these. The car runs a little rough when cold but once warm runs really apart from under very light acceleration where it has a slight misfire. Still passed well within the emissions and even the mot commented on how solid the car was underneath for the age. I have undoubtedly missed loads and questions are welcomed
