Post

Up for sale is my 1983 Mk1 Golf CL project. I have owned the car for 10 years now and it has taken me a very long time to get to the stage it is at now, but unfortunetly due to a change of circumstances at home I am unable to finsh it. The cars general information and the work already carried out is covered below:

Restoration Project

I have replaced both outer rear arches, stiped the entire shell back to bare metal including all panels, purchased two original (nos) front wings costing £300 an original (nos) bonnet costing £130 all of which have been rust protect, etched and primed by a professional bodyshop. The shell itself has also undergone a cavity wax, rust protection, etched primer and a two pack paint in the original metalic flek ragata blue. The sills and underside are all orignal with no rust or welding carried out (which has also been stone chipped for extra protection). The bulkhead and roof skin has new sound proofing applied which was sourced from VW direct. I have collected doubles of pretty much every interior and exterior part most of wich (99%) is original VW parts that was purched from Carrs VW Truro and Murry VW Plymouth. The car will come with a rebuilt 1.1 petrol engine (webber carb) which has done 60,000 original miles, the original 1.3 engine (that will need to be rebuilt but has everything down to new original bolts all of which are original VW parts and the block was also dipped, honed and painted by John Reed Motorsport) and a 1.6 GTI engine all of which comes with thier associated gearboxes, ancillaries and wiring looms. I have two sets of orignal running gear in good condition which will come with 5 GTI taranchula wheels and an original spare (including trim clip) the tyres of which are in very good condition. You will also get the original glass (with original etching to match car) and all rubber seals for glass incudes the very rare chrome trim inserts (all undamaged including orginal chrome swage trim this alone is £500+) rubber for the door shuts will also be included.

I have been unable to complete the following: Spray doors, boot, bonnet and wings to match shell as well as sourcing bumpers, carpet and seats. Apart from that everything is there to build a show winning Golf.

For pictures visit the following link, i will try and take a few this week to show the sprayed shell:

As originally stated this is an unfinished project so the car will need to be trailered away and I would recommend a large vehicle as I have 12 large storge boxes full of parts plus the 3 engines and 2 sets of running gear, not to mention all the panels. Unfortunatley the list goes on and I have probably missed a few things therfore if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on the following:

I completely forgot to add the address:

I have now reduced the car down to £900 as I need to sell it as soon as possible. Like I previously stated I have spent around £2,500.00 so far and it wont take much to get it on the road.

It pains me to say it but the car really needs to go so I will be looking for around £600! that includes everything above and the box of genuine vw engine parts that cost me £900 five years ago :(
