Description:

Please forgive the cut and paste of my ebay ad, I thought I would post it here as well and I would be over the moon to sell it to a forum member, in fact I'll pledge £50 donation if the buyer comes from it.

This project has been a huge labour of love for me and I’m not over the moon to see it go but such is life, I need the money for another opportunity so I am offering it for sale.

I searched for months for a decent base van to start from, but they are pretty rare to start with and with so many used abused and scrapped when I saw this one at Crazy Quiffs I was blown away, it was a completely solid shell, so I did a deal with them to buy it and have them do the work I wanted. If you aren’t familiar with them, check out the Mk1 owners forum, they have a fantastic reputation as experts in the mk1 having carried out many engine swaps and other fantastic project cars.

So the work was complete Jan 2012 and here are the highlights

Complete respray in Porsche Classic Sport Grey

Refurbished engine 2.0 ABF (2.0 16v Mk3 GTi approx 150bhp)

including 5 speed box and engine management

New front disk brakes (256mm Mk3 GTi)

New rear drums (last month)

New brake lines

AP Coilover suspension (I love the current stance, handles beautifully but could go lower)

Wolfsburg edition steering wheel (the only choice)

Mk1 Gti front seats

Replacement dash and centre console (this is the second dash in great condition)

Original golf ball gear knob

Fully working period Blaupunkt stereo

Brand new (last month) G60 wheels with new centers and plenty of tread

I do have refurbished ATS Type 5’s that were on it, that by separate negotiation

I also have some Porsche 944 seats that I have yet to put in which could be included

The V5 shows as a Diesel Van as I have never changed it but it is on classic insurance with all the modifications declared and it’s dirt cheap.

I’m sure I’ve missed something but I don’t want to go on and on, the pictures tell the story, the only thing left to do is the rear which has great potential to really finish it in style, a friend of mine is currently working on fabricating a black load liner to finish the 80’s look.

It has only been to one show, last year on the Crazy Quiffs stand at GTi International so with the right wheels and something interesting in the rear it could be a real winner.

It was advertised last year and sold at £7500 but the buyer let me down, I had a few minor jobs done and packed it away for the winter, I am now asking £6,995, I know it's a lot but if you take the time to come and see it, you will not be disappointed

I’m in Milton Keynes if you want to come and have a look, it’s worth a trip and but don’t hang about it is advertised elsewhere.
