Description: Relectantly I have decided it's time to sell my 91 plate Metallic Green Rivage GTI cabriolet with 123k miles.

I have owned the car since January 2011 and have loved owning it but due to 2 job losses last year the mk 1 hasn't been out on the roads yet this year - apart from to the MOT station - and I cannot see it being brought out again for the foreseable future.

So… I purchased the car from a lovely couple who had owned the car since 1997 and had it as their daily driver. They were in their 60s and even used it as their wedding car a few years back. They had kept a full document of past MOT's and receipts but they decided it was time to let it go. Unfortunatly the engine wasn't running perfect but the bodywork was in great shape and thanks to all original parts and a new hood replacement she looked great. I happily took her home and spent over £600 getting the injector problems diagnosed and repaired and now she runs great. I planned to use the car as my wedding car in the summer of 2013 so decided to remove the interior and door cards and had them all repaired and repainted and conditioned. As you can see they came up like new.

Of course in its last MOT it passed straight away wth no advisories. I had it serviced last year - 800 miles ago - and also had 3 new tyres - a 4th had been replaced in 5k miles ago. Within the past 3 years there is a new bosch battery fitted with warranty until Jan 2015, new HT leads, new dizzy, new coils, new radiator and new exhaust, new fan & oil pressure switch and new bosch aero wiper-blades.

Previous to me owning it the filler neck was replaced with a stainless steel model and the hood was replaced. Other replacement parts include re-con gearbox, alternator, bearings and belt, water hose, water pump, shock absorbers, timing belt, wheel bearings, alternator and clutch cable.

I have over £8500 of receipts within my 2 folders going back to 31k miles in 1996. Too much to list but everthing has literally been replaced and all service history receipts are present.

Finally last summer I had the front bumper resprayed by a professional bodyfitters and had all 4 alloys resprayed.

The electric hood works fine and the roof goes back nice and tight. The engine pulls as it should and - because of the MFA computer - tells me the DX engine still gets over 40mpg.

The car is currently sorn but ready for a new owner. I have two set of keys - with spare Cobra fobs for the Thatcham 1 alarm.

The car is not immaculate but is in amazing condition for it's year and is now ready for another VW enthusiast to take her away, dry store and and appreciate her. A lovely example of the rare rivage with the cream leather optional extra.
