What did you do to your Mk1 Golf Today ?

Drove mine Like I STOLE it, I must of been going 450smiles per hour.

Boyfriend managed to get the plastic wheel arch off. I have tried myself but couldn't manage it. Turns out it was sealed on and it looked a bit rotten so he just cut it off. Found a horror story of a botched arch underneath. Oh joy 😂

 

Got this today in via ups, it was well packaged, and it almost too pretty to put in the car…if I didn't need it.

Ah for next week to arrive so I can flush/backflush my cooling system, as it has been about 2 years…..



One less daffodil plastic part to worry about.

Funny that I used the Gaelic and yall changed it to a flowery word….dang.

 

Well been busy past 7 days with 3 cars on the go. Rocker cover leaks and rubber gasket not improving.. injection hose wrong size ordered. changed injectors seals, fixed coolant drips, still have to sort rocker leak,so refurb painting original rocker to try again.on my clipper got back on the road, fixing connections in clocks.. then removed the injectors and hoses and put on sportline lol…..mk2 changed from sebrings to bbs rm, trail fitted et40 and decided need 5mm spacers at least, have small issue with rocker leaks..and now stalling when gearing to standstill at junctions  apparently ISv is likely issue, so sprayed cleaner and yet to try. Found 2 more in my spares of unknown condition.

Living proof that you can teach an OLD dog new tricks. I just wonder how you trained him to change a tire……

On a side note, I as usual drove mine topless and 2 very cute women said, "love your car" as I drove past them….

Installed new stainless steel exhaust
New 4-2-1 manifold and new 2,5” pipework all the way back to a single muffler..

So how does it sound?

Well I moved my sportline still leaking from rocker seal,to get access to mk2.  I Tried newly sprayed Isv but still lumpy… and still losing revs until stall when gearing down, tried a mk2 8v version,did similar.. tried another KR version but that was building revs till 4k before I pulled the plug on that.. then I found 1 last 1 seems to be holding 1k revs  and when revving want reducing to stall.  So just maybe it's a good 1… now I know not mk1 but lots of peeps are upgrading to kr and abf so will be common issue. Mk1 i sold some MFA parts to cover cost of new o rings for injectors. Simple part new,part replaced means old parts are superseded and sold.

Sounds pretty good its a deep sound in the lower revs and then more normal when revs are higher, so its definately a succes

I actually drove mine for the first time in 6mths but only for half a mine to get the alignment sorted since I changed everything.

Going out again in a bit to get the exhaust fettled so I can see what the 4-1 actually sounds like without the noise escaping early

 

Original rocker installed.. back on sportline seems more oil tight.
Fuel injection lines m10 size added to clipper(, took m12 and injectors to sportline) turned over and checked for leaks.
Took mk1 for fuel and test drive of ISV swap. Sorted the issue there.
Added cup holder to mk2. And so happy ordered 2 more for the running cars.

I drove mine like I stole it topless until I noticed that policeman with Radar at the other end of the Bridge, so I slowed down once I hit the dividing line on the Bridge between Jurisdictions…and was glad my Speedo is 5mph over the actual . ……

While I do drink and drive I have never in 40 years like those over the glass drink holders as they spill when you close the door rapidly, when is why I designed one that fits above the e-brake.



The original before I decided to cut it down a wee bit and paint it black.





With optional rear seat holder/arm rest.

I have technically done nothing but soon the classic car fairies will be on it.

Booked it in for its 4 branch to be fitted and full stainless system. Taking down next Tuesday and pick it up about 2 weeks later as I have a small operation planned on my leg next week also and won’t be able to drive for a little bit.

Dropped it off and collect in about 3 weeks. Feels weird it not being in the garage down stairs.

Will have a nice shiny exhaust and 4 branch fitted.

Excited for sure.

Used the Vert as a truck…. It is Convertible after all.

Scored some Phone dial wheels super cheap ($100can).. A quick refurb and am happy with the result

Well I did some body mods yesterday, and I am really happy at the results, well some of them.




At least it will live on as I will take the interior, hood and wheels and other bits and put them on my Green one.  So in a way I am sad,  but I have no injuries other than that which the Airbag caused to my forearms and belly….. I will say that the safety features on the car worked well beyond my imagination.  Then sell the rest….


(Sun was in my eye as I took a rise in the road and didn't see the car turn in front of me…)

Glad you are safe. Harvest it for all you can and as you say get another one running just a sweet.

That's terrible, but at least your OK, the car looks fubared though, very sad.
