Only a small thing but I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out:

Scratch. $&%*!

Primary and spray putty.

Body filler

Sanding

Spraying

Fine sanding

Clear coat and polish. Done!

Today I drove snowy to the mot bay in hykeham. 3rd gear burn up to get hot.. straight through emmisions and brake checks. Left him there to finish his checks. Also whilst there I hope to have new budget coilover fitted to enhance the look.

Sadly I also let the leech go to another owner.  Still he needs paint and love, so hopefully new owner gets to finish him off. On list was paint refresh.. Roof replace then just to clean up inside. I let him go cheap at today's prices so hopefully the ŁŁŁŁ saved will be invested into getting back on the road.

I drove back to Leicester from Lynmouth in North Devon. Thus completing our summer road trip of some 770 miles over 9 days.
The car ran like a dream and as it's our first year of ownership, we got to appreciate the delights of top down motoring in places like Exmoor and the New Forest.
Now the car needs a good wash down to remove the grime.

Hung my Cat for the last emission test ever.  Went to inspect the rear brakes and well 2 bad rear wheel cylinders (leaking) lost a spring so it took two days to do repair…   That was on my Blue Cabby, my Green cabby got a Bath, cleaned the white top, took it out for a spin after checking the air in the tires, (hadn't driven it in about 6 months) one tire had lost 2 lbs of pressure….

Cleaned the insides, and took the seat cover bottom passenger side off to have it mended…Repaired the Foam, Installed new seat bushes.  6 month old gas and the thing fired right up and scooted down the road at 70mph to let the engine have a workout… It was Fun…..
Getting ready to sell it… I don't need two… :)

Yep busy week…. 2 days for a brake job… Dam I am getting old….

Managed to get the front arch covers and front spoiler on. Have to lift the rear tomorrow and drill the new arches out to fit the rears. Just drivers carpet and drivers door card to fit then will be good enough for the AGM but loads left to do still.

Busy day just sat down. Carpets in, door card built, low dash fitted, filled with fuel and a 80mph blast up the dual carriage way. She was retuned as was running 24 deg advanced and brought her back to 10deg. Pops and farts every time I let off the throttle and sounds great (yes I am a child). Just a hoover and wash then need to see if it is better to come down Saturday or Sunday.

Finally stopped raining this week so I have re-fitted the duckbill that I ripped off getting in and then out of the AGM. Yesterday fitted my door seals I brought at the AGM (thanks classic vw).

Down side to door seals. Before I felt faster as I could hear all the noise. Now I feel underpowered in the little 1.6. Although exactly the same in reality. Just me being weird?

MOT'd the GTI.

Had already fitted new rear exhaust and tyres in preparation.

Passed the test after I'd pulled the wires from one of the two twintone horns so that the 35 year old wiring would carry enough current to the remaining horn to make a sound…..

Going to tape up the wires and just run one horn.

Replace the rubber boot for the gear linkage. Boot was easy enough but re setting the gears was a total pain in the butt as i lost first and second gear, however all sorted now and one job off the list.

Will be fitting my new Bilstein/Eibach suspension over the next few days.

Fitted a new set of seats at the weekend. After going to the AGM and seeing everyone's cars I decided my interior was letting my car down. A quick search on eBay found a local guy selling a decent set of seats which were quickly purchased and fitted. Really pleased with them just need a new black carpet now and I will be happy (for a few weeks anyway )

Oh my pretty precious…..

Does driving mine topless and then topped count, as the topless was called on account of rain.
