Hey guys , how many of you guys have a Webber carb fitted to your mk1 golf ??? I've had an abandoned test as my car wouldn't idle when warming up !!!
Just wondered how simple the Webber is to fit and tune and how reasonable they are on fuel ???

Cheers chaps

Easy to fit and as long as it's jetted correctly easy to tune. Very happy with mine after replacing the pooburg.

Recently fitted a new one to my 1.1.  Phoned Webcon at Sunbury with car details and they built it up for me with all the correct jets etc. Well pleased.

Webber carb…. Really easy to tune and maintain, simple carb. Takes a couple of hours to fit and set up but final set up best done on a CO2 meter. You won't see any better MPG or performance from a standard Pierburg carb in good condition it's just getting a Pierburg to run well which is the main problem as they are complex carbs.

Just make sure you get a Webber carb for an auto box as they are slightly different.

Cheers for the advice mark1gls  my pierberg was poorly getting 11.8 mpg and would not idle !!! Just wondered what I was getting into - having fitted a new weber today I can honestly say wow!!! What a difference in the way it starts and drives.

Just to set up a bit more now and a quick drive to spring dubs tomorrow.

Only bad bit was the heater that needs to be swapped has snapped how important is this ??? I am running the full air box with hot air pick up ??
