Needing info regards springs

I've recently fitted new springs to my car and there ment to be 40mm all round but the front sits much lower than the rear.could this be because I have a 16v in it or could it just be they sent me the wrong springs.was thinking about trying to source and fit 30mm for the front now and see if that helps.it's seemed to sit OK with the standard set up cheers

Could be weaker Spring Steel in the new ones, or that are weighted for a different car.

The Strut mounts were they new or old?  How far do they come up off the top?

If you take the mount (new) and fill it with 3m window weld and let it cure for a week or ten days, your car will sit higher.

The cabby is a heavier than stock Golf, so it may be that the springs you bought were built for that weight, instead of the heavier weight of a Cabriolet.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

give it a bit, you may find the rears bed in a bit after a few miles and reduce the nose down stance. but yes the 16v engine is a bit heavier than an 8v so that wont be helping.

plus were they listed for a mk1 tintop, or specifically for a cabrio? the cab shell is quite a bit heavier with all the extra lumps of steel welded in to stop it folding in half, plus the roof frame is heavy as well

Yes it was cabriolet springs I bought.I'm happy with how the rear sits but the front arches areally just about touching the tyres and it's only 15" wheels I've got.don't suppose anyone has any 30mm front springs they'd be intrested in selling cheers
