That's funny you saw the same car last year.

I'll have to check for it next year. Have been to Biarritz/St Jean de Luz for the last 12 years now.

I saw more Mk1's there in 2 weeks than I've seen at some VW shows!

Saw this one in Vienna the other day. It's a GLS and looking around it she has been looked after but it's used everyday, which is great.
The thing that surprised me about it was the fact if has a factory sunroof and headlamp washers.
The washers could be an add on but I've not checked what was standard?




Not a show car as such but good to see one being used still daily, certainly don't see them often over here.

Normally I only see them when I'm driving mine, so it's a pain in the butt and dangerous to grab the phone for a quick  photo!  

In six months last year I only saw about a dozen, eleven of those while I was driving.  

Its the same here. Evan driving round my local area we see them. In Tesco, BQ, parked on drive ways! When Im off work I some times stick the camera in the car but guess what...............they all hide!

Summer is slowly creeping up on us and people are starting to pop away on their travels so lets get this thread up and running again with all your Mk1's spotted abroad!
The wife and I have just been to Croatia for 10 days and I don't think I can remember seeing so many Mk1's in any other country! ( With the exception of the AGM   )  They were nearly as popular as the Renault 4's that were bombing around everywhere!

I wonder if most of them are daily old cars, or if they are seen as classics?...

The ones in Croatia are definitely daily drivers, they would move from day to day and we saw loads driving around that we didn't manage to take a photo of! It's the same with Renault 4's, everyone is just driving them around like normal cars battered and bruised from the daily commutes!

I think that's testament to how well they are built and simple to work on.

Found these two Guys trying to hide at the top of a mountain last year in Austria. (I'm at the highest point) 





No hiding from me but to be honest, there was a group of about 25+ Mk1's from Germany for the GTI Treffer (festival). 

Top of the Villacher pass not far from Wortersee!

bit of snowboarding, that poor cabrio looked like it had been driven through the snow all season.
