Golf Gti
Just wondered if anyone is experiencing these problems due to a perished rubber at the bottom of the swirl pot on a Golf Gti. Had my fuel tank resealed but have just found this article from another forum and now wondered if they had to resolve this problem in my tank. Will call them tomorrow to find out but in the meantime have a look at this link, interesting read.
Help! I need a gas tank schematic for my Mk1 GTI. | VW Vortex - Volkswagen Forum
i managed to buy a fuel screen filter from eBay but don't know if the rubber is available anywhere. I also have a new one of the aftermarket tanks that sounds like the bowl swirl pots actually work.

new 'gti' tanks are usually actually diesel ones, they fit but the swirl pot is inferior to the gti tank and so may not perform as well. one solution is to plumb in an external swirl pot and fit a post 84 cab/rocco lifter pump, though i doubt it would fit a gti tank with that big swirl pot in the way…
