crazy quiffs three point cabby rear belts ?

OK peeps - we should have a production sample done for the end of next week.

As an indication the kit will be in the region of £150 (incl VAT) for the two brackets - belts can be got new, used or you can sort your own.  We will be using 4 door front belts - assuming the clasps will work.  Rear hatch belts are no good as the inertia unit sits at an angle.

Our kit will be bolt-in (no welding) but a notch out of the rear parcel shelf side support will be required - dremel or similar.  The original VW units required this also.  This to to get the belt as close to the side of the car as poss.  Your parcel shelf will also require a cut out for the bracket to protrude.  We'll provide templates for all of that.

I'm interested in your feedback on pricing and fitting.

Cheers

Marc - it's £150 excluding belts - we'd do used ones for £25/pair

Mark - we don't plan to test this item.  If we did it would make this small batch production item far too expensive and would stop is in it tracks.

What I will say is that we have based the bracket heavily in VW's design and have made it significantly stronger.  That way we can be sure that it is robust enough for the job (VW would have crash tested it) yet be cost effective.

Just thought id throw my badger into the mix too. Ive already sold my mk1 cab once due to no rear 3 point belts when my 2nd child was on the way and now ive bought the same car back im once again reaching the same dilema now my 1st child is moving onto a booster seat. So id be a 100% deffo buyer if you made some for sale.

Hi all,

I've spoken to our "guinea pig" customer and they have it fitted up and are using it with their child seat.  They said that the garage that fitted it reported that they were well made fitted well and they could hang the car off them if they wanted - so plenty strong enough!!

We are ready to take orders for the first batch of say 10 car sets.  Pricing is £150 per pair + £25 for a pair of seat belts (used - when available).  Kit will include the brackets, nuts and bolts, fitting instructions and templates.

This will be done as a first come, first served basis - delivery is estimated for the end of November.  We can also fit them to your car if required (costs and times on this TBA).

If you would like to order a set please contact us - http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/AboutUs.htm so we can take your details and a £30 deposit.

I guess they'd work.

You could add the mounts to fit standard hatch rear belts??
