looking to upgrade.

the golf is coming along nicely, new hood was fitted last week, and the wheels are next on the list, they will need refurbing  or replacing, currently I have the standard Mk1 cab wheels, looking to maybe upgrade and wanted to know people's thoughts on what to go for.

I quite like the look of the BBS Malhe's, but any advice and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Is that a picture of your car, as you have BBS RA's and I think really suit the small bumper cabbys.  I have been thinking about getting some different wheels for mine this weekend, but short of a set of 15" P Slots which come with a set of hens teeth, there is nothing that takes my fancy, so keeping the RA's.

It Is indeed a picture of it.

I agree I think they look great, just wanted ideas if they were worth changing.

I'm sending them in for refurb next week if I decide to stick with them.

They wouldn't have been standard (13" Tarantulas were) but I do have a copy of a 1983 VAG pricel list showing 13,14 and 15 inch RAs as an dealer fit accessory.

I bought mine used and quite tatty, but refurbed them myself.

Hi,   Thanks, couldn't open attachment on phone but will try PC later as like you I used to loose marks for originality.  I have 195 50…much better looking and handling but the 55 fills the arch a little better. 195 55 would be spot on.  I have Eibach lowered springs on Koni dampers, standard engine but specd up and runs 150bhp.  Had it off road for many years but now can't wait to get it back out again this year.  If I get spacers will let you know how I get on.  Cheers and good to keep in touch as cars are very similar.

Silver BBS mesh wheels are always going to be a timeless look on a MK1.

I'd say steer away from any other colour on them personally.

Hi Richard,
Hope you are well and the Mk1 is tucked away in a garage for the winter!
Haven't been using web site for ages, can't get to like the new site (use the facebook site mainly but wasn't sure how to get hold of you on it).  I am in desperate need of your baby to get dimensions for the stripes, I found a post on the site but wasn't sure if it was yours but knew you had originals on your car.
Looking for swage line depth, tailgate depth (think they are same and you may only have tailgate on red car?) and top/bottom stripes with distance between the two.
If car is tucked away don't worry I will try to get hold of one of the other guys with originals.  Cheers Scott
