I've an 81 mk1 GTi sitting in the garage… since I brought it and 'done it up' I've moved from and back to the uk, got married and had 2 kids!!! It means I don't have the time I'd like to spend on the car so I was thinking of selling, but not sure on price. Car is in good condition, well maintained, immaculate inside. Approx 120k on the clock, glass sunroof.
What do people think I could get for my car? Pic below. Thanks all.

Apart from the lack of info, take a dozen pics of it now.
Inside and out, under the bonnet, from underneath.
You name it, take a photo of it.
Just by doing that your doing yourself a big favor and you might find a buyer here into the bargin!

Side stripes are missing
In that case it's worth about £500. I'll give you a grand for it mate
As mentioned, more pics and info and we can help out with a decent value

It is hard to get a good solid car and there will always be something that needs doing, which we all understand. From the look of your pictures it is quite similar to mine when i brought it, i paid 2500 but that was 3 years ago, i have put a lot of time and money into mine since then and it is far from finished.
I am sure you should get more now as the car prices have gone up, but at the end of the day it is only ever worth what some one will pay for it. Good luck with your sale.

Mot for definite as potential buyer might be put off without one I would be being honest.
As for price tin tops are getting decent money, when I was looking around last year there were some around the 3.5k-4k in the sort of condition your saying yours is but then again I've seen some go lately for more if you get the right buyer then who knows.
I'm no professional mate so my thoughts could be well off but with just a little money put in you could get a lot more out.

Other than that, deffinately add the side stripes - about £18 on ebay. I'd add the rear window surround too.
Suffering quite badly from Dashboard sag. Big job to rip that out and try to fix.
Front door cards look mint - Repro's?
Rear cards don't look as good as the originals with the arm rests.
I couldn't put a price on it I'm afraid. I have owned my Mk1 for 21 years and seen the market drop through the floor and pick right back up again. I can't believe how much some sell for these days!
MOST IMPORTANTLY though - Remove the no fear sticker…
