What car security do you use?

Post

Just wondered what others use on their precious MK1!

As per title, just wondered what other Golf owners use as a theft deterrent on their car!
My Golf came with an immobiliser that had been fitted in the '90's with a key fob that you held on some pins but I removed it as it wasn't very easy to use and only had one key!
I appreciate I'm not going to stop a professional car thief but at least I could try and stop the opportunist. I'm not sure whether to get another immobiliser, an alarm or a steering lock so I'd be interested in hearing what others recommend.

Thanks.
Matt.

I've got a Toad Cat 1 fitted that uses Microwave sensors and not Ultrasonic. It's the dogs gonads!

Also have central locking fitted and the same time but what's different about mine is that it's not wired up to kill the battery.
But wired up behind the clocks and it kills the fuel pump stone dead.
So to disable it you'd pretty much have to remove the dash and then know what the heck you are doing!  :)

Not that expensive either.

Yeah, i bought mine with the TOAD cat 1 immobiliser already installed. Never had any problems, i just worry that with the roof down anything that lands inside the car could set the alarm off, but so far so good.

Thanks guys, main lives in the garage when it's not in use, it's just that when I leave it in a car park somewhere and go shopping some car thief is gonna take a fancy to my car and find it very easy to take!

Take a look at these Safe-T pedals we stock at VW Heritage.

They lock around the pedal cluster to make moving the car pretty tricky.
Quite a nice visual deterent and endorsed by The Stolen VW Register. (The stolen vw register)

Find them on our website here.

Personally I would consider investing in a Tracking system too, just in case your Alarm / Immobiliser / big scary dog doesn't put the theives off.
