Post

Just removed a plastic panel on my centre console and found 3 holes for VDO gauges!!
Guna get some now I thinks.

Was this an optional extra for GTIs then these 3 gauges??

Think most had 1 gauge and the other 2 holes were blocked up although I imagine you could have more gauges as a dealer fit option.

Some more knowledgeable/less stupid then me will come along and give you the full answer shortly I imagine

vdo guages go for silly money on ebay tbh, I picked up a set from an audi 80 in my local scrap yard for about £20 with a oil pressure sender too

My rule of thumb is to avoid eBay as eBay takes 10% of final value plus listing costs plus 10% of postage and then PayPal sometimes charges!

If only people shopped around a bit first, E-bay is not always the cheapest place to buy things. (Infact for parts like that it rarely is.)

Previous 2 comments are both correct, although I know this I still go on there, maybe it's an addiction ;)

Least the set I got are in brilliant condition anyways

Yeah I'm always looking on there and still sell because despite being over priced it is convenient!

I must have been lucky. I paid £32 on ebay for my gauges and they were perfect.
The senders and adapter were about £25 new. Although it took some time to locate them at that price. The adapter I found in Holland!
I found an excellent You Tube video on how to connect up the wiring, best place to fit the adapter etc.
