The Old Chat System has been retired

Hi,

Some of you may of tried the old chat system, although it worked it failed on one major point - the notification of a message was not real time, it relied on sending someone an email - and lets face it the whole point is that you want to talk to that person there and then.

Some of you may of noticed a new chat bar appear at the bottom of your browser screen - this is the new chat interface, there is no extra logging in required as it is fully integrated in to the main site.

You can create chat rooms and invite people, you can chat one to one with other people online.
You can change you online status and even go offline from the chat.

There are some other features that will get turned on later and when I have a little more time !!

There is support for mobiles, at the moment it is a single button at the bottom of the page which will take you to a html version of chat.
There is a chat app from the App Store(s) for mobiles but at the moment it is not working for us - I will do another update when it is working.

Anyway for now, please enjoy the new feature and please do give me some feedback.

And of course, if you get stuck just shout !!

Absolutely marvelous Ade, you just keep out doing yourself, had a few good chats today. I wondered what the heck it was till I looked proper. Brilliant Stuff.

Is there a way to disable the "chat now" tab?

Right now it completely dominates my screen on my android tablet.

To say its frustrating is an understatement.

There should be an arrow pointing down at the right hand end of the bar. Click it and it should close it.

It is different for mobiles and tablets.

The box is way too big I know - I have left it on so that the people who write the software can see that, they are monitoring how it is working.

There is no way for a user to turn it off at the moment - hopefully you can put up with it until I get it resolved - sorry for the inconvenience.

I do most of my browsing with my tablet now so not had a chance to check it on PC yet.

It really became an issue last night when I was trying to reply in a thread and I had to work around the tab.

The bar on mobiles has been changed to scale with the screen size now. Hopefully this should work for you.

Ade, I'm sure you know this already but I've now used the following:

Win 7 Ultimate
An ASUS Transformer touch screen with Android latest and greatest
MacBook Pro with the latest and greatest

No problems what so ever!
It sits happily at the bottom of the screen and when I move the screen it sits there waiting for instructions on all three devices.  

No clearing the 'Cache' or anything, so I thought I would mention it.

The mobile button is not to my liking at the moment, so I am trying to get it improved.
