Wrong time of year

Try again in spring for less money.

Golden rule of buying and selling cars.
Buy in the winter and sell in the summer!

Used cars cost 20 to 25% less in the winter and visa-versa.

Cabby's suffer more of course in the winter but gain it all back in spring.

I bought my Cabrio at the end of February in the Austrian Alps.
Paid for it and didn't pick it up still the middle of April because of to much snow.  ;)

Christmas is prob a not a good time to try and sell any car. In addition to people being short of time and money due to the festivities, going dark are 4pm, side ways rain or snow makes viewing for potential buyers difficult.

The above is compounded for a Cabriolet version that can't/won't driven roof down for another 4 or 5 months.

Also the MK1 market is quite limited. If a non-veedub nut wanted an open top car there are thousands available ranging from Peugeot 206/207/307CCs,  via newer Golfs, MX5s, MR2s to Audi TTs and Porsche Boxsters from a few hundred quid to not much more than £3,000. All half the age of the Golf and with power steering and modcons that people want.

It does look a tidy car but to get the best £ they need to be a bit special; very early or very late model, low mileage/owners, concours etc

I'd hang on till spring or alternatively drop the price to overcome all the above.

Understand but I'd be asking my wife under those circumstances, "How much she thinks is a fair amount to lose rather than wait four months?" 🤔

But at the end of the day you can always get another one but replacing your wife is a little bit more tricky and no doubt cost a great deal more! 😂😉👍🏼

As others have said not right time to see unless someone wants a project over the summer.

Price seems okay come the spring, I would clean up the interior seats and carpet and take another photo first impressions count with many people.

Also clean the brake dust off the alloys and take another picture, especially if you have a wheel with the correct BBS wheel caps.

These little bits would just lift the car from the also rans.

Car has had quite a few of the niggles done, you mention some work on the carb seals, if the carb has been replaced to fix the troublesome originals then say so, or if yours runs well with the new seal then I would state that as well.

The MK6 seats though do look good if you could get the rears to match, but putting back to standard was a good idea to appeal to most.

Just looked at your advert again and agree with RichardHall, could do with a bit of tidying here and there.

I'd reinstate the orginalgrille and seats and don't both mentioning or showing pics of them, it complicates and confuses the advert.

I'd also highlight the work done including resolving two of the main MK1 issues (rotten fuel filler and E2E Pooburg carb)

Keep the Golf and sell your other car…
My cabriolet has been my daily for 20 years, and it's not let me down. It lives outside and is used all year round, the kids fit in the back as well….
